Cân i ni – dathlu grym canu / A song for us – celebrating the power of song

Mae Côr Gobaith wedi cyflwyno dwy gân i’r prosiect A Song for Us, sef prosiect i nodi’r cyfnod hanesyddol hwn trwy ddathlu ein cymunedau a sut mae grym canu yn tynnu pawb ynghyd.

Yn ogystal â chomisiynu caneuon ar lefel sirol, gall y cyhoedd hefyd helpu creu map cerddorol o wledydd y DU trwy rannu cân sydd ag ystyr arbennig iddynt a’i hychwanegu at y map. Mae’r côr wedi cyflwyno Also in Dark Times a chân Kelvin a Lotte Sisyphus Song.

Côr Gobaith has participated in A Song for Us, a UK wide music project to mark this historic time by celebrating our communities and the power of music to bring us together.

As well as commissioning songs on a county level, the public can also help build a music map of the four nations by sharing a favourite track or creating their own song that holds special meaning. We have presented two songs – Also in Dark Times and Kelvin and Lotte’s Sisyphus Song.

Creu er gwaetha’r cyfyngiadau Creating despite the restrictions

19 Mawrth 2021: Er bod cyfyngiadau Cofid-19 wedi rhwystro’n gweithgarwch arferol dros y flwyddyn ddiwethaf – y canu, yr ymgyrchu, y codi arian a’r protestio, yr ydym wedi llwyddo i gwrdd a chanu gyda’n gilydd, a hynny mewn ffordd wahanol i’r arfer. Ond mae 2021 yn nodi pymthegfed pen-blwydd y côr, ac roeddem am ddathlu! Dyma fynd ati felly i recordio cân ‘gyda’n gilydd ar wahân’, recordio ein lleisiau unigol ac yna’u cymysgu, a chreu fideo i fynd gyda’r recordiad. Lansiwyd y recordiad ar nos Wener, 19 Mawrth gyda pharti Zoom i ddilyn.

19 March 2021: Although the Covid-19 regulations have prevented our usual activities over the last year – singing, campaigning, fundraising and protesting, we have overcome these difficulties and managed to meet up and sing together in a different way. However, 2021 marks our fifteenth anniversary and we wanted to celebrate! So we we set about recording a song “together alone”, recording our individual voices and mixing them together, and putting together a video alongside the recording. The result was premiered on Friday, 19 March followed by a Zoom party to celebrate the anniversary!

Cefnogi elusennau yn bell ac agos Supporting charities both near and far

Er gwaetha’ cyfyngiadau’r pandemig, yn ystod 2020 llwyddodd y Côr i godi arian a gwneud cyfraniadau i’r elusennau canlynol, gan ein bod ymwybodol iawn bod angen mwy o gymorth nag erioed ar bob un ohonynt.

Banc Bwyd y Jiwbili / Jubilee Storehouse

Samariaid Aberystwyth a Chanolbarth Cymru

Beiciau Gwaed Cymru / Blood Bikes Wales

Médecins Sans Frontières

Medical Aid for Palestinians

Despite the restrictions due to the pandemic, we still managed to raise money and we donated to the above charities, all of which needed more support than ever before during 2020.

Cytundeb ar Wahardd Arfau Niwclear / Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons

22 Ionawr 2021: Daeth y Cytundeb ar Wahardd Arfau Niwclear i rym ar y dyddiad hwn. I nodi’r garreg filltir hanesyddol hwn bu aelodau Côr Gobaith yn gwneud crychyddion heddwch, eu rhoi mewn lle amlwg yn y gymuned, tynnu llun a’i bostio ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol (#gwaharddniwclear). Roedd hwn yn gyfle arbennig i bawb weithredu a chadw pellter cymdeithasol!

22 January 2021: The UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons enters into force on this day. To celebrate this milestone in disarmament in a manner appropriate to this socially distanced moment, Côr Gobaith members made peace cranes, took photos of them in various locations in our community, and posted them on social media (#nuclearban).

Corddi’r Dyfroedd – Making Waves

7-9 Mehefin 2019: Cawsom benwythnos gwych pan groesawon ni SJOKK – côr sosialaidd o Sandnes, Norwy – i Aberystwyth, yn ogystal â Chôr Cochion a Chôr Heddwch Pales!

Dechreuon ni’r penwythnos gyda noson gymdeithasol yn Amgueddfa Ceredigion ar y nos Wener, ac yna treuliwyd y bore canlynol yn canu ar hyd strydoedd Aberystwyth yn codi arian i Médecins Sans Frontières a Samariaid Aberystwyth.

Prif ddigwyddiad y penwythnos oedd cyngerdd Corddi’r Dyfroedd yng Nghanolfan Morlan, a chyfle pellach i godi arian i’r elsusennau.

Diolch i Gyngor Tref Aberystwyth Council, Sophie Bach ac eraill am eu cyfraniadau ariannol i’n cynorthwyo gyda threfniadau’r penwythnos.

7-9 June 2019: We had a great weekend when we hosted SJOKK – a socialist choir from Sandnes, Norway – as well as Cardiff’s Côr Cochion and the Pales Peace Choir!

Following a social get together in Ceredigion Museum on the Friday evening, the next morning was spent busking around Aberystwyth, raising money for Médecins Sans Frontières and Aberystwyth Samaritans.

The main event of the weekend was the Making Waves concert at the Morlan Centre, with the entrance donation again going to our chosen charities.  making waves

With many thanks to Aberystwyth Town Council, Sophie Bach and other donors for their financial contributions to running these events.
